As this is a legal agreement between Nimble Giant Entertainment (“NGE”) and the users of Champions of Regnum (“Regnum”), we kindly ask you to pay attention to the following rules even if the tone might be very serious:

You accept not to incur in any of these actions during your stay in the community of Regnum (this includes all related sites, interactive tools like forums, chats, Discord, Facebook, etc. and the game itself):
  1. Violating or transgressing any of the norms, rules, terms or conditions included in Regnum’s Terms of Use agreement.
  2. Sending any message, information, data, text, software or graphic files or other material (“Content”) being illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, pursuing, torturous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, dangerous, invasive of the privacy of others, containing hatred or aggressions and/or being racially, ethically or morally questionable.
  3. Impersonating any person or entity including but not limited to members of NGE, game masters, moderators or expressing opinions on behalf of or falsely representing any other person or entity.
  4. Publishing, promoting, manipulating or transmitting any Content for which you do not have intellectual or commercial property rights, or any other material or information protected by the privacy agreement included in Regnum’s Terms of Use agreement.
  5. Publishing, spreading or transmitting any Content containing virus or corrupted data.
  6. Using an internal or external tool for Regnum so that it affects the game, its proper functioning its resources or the use of any service or tool (for example, bad use of chat, forums, etc.).
  7. Publishing, spreading or transmitting any type of unsolicited or non-allowed publicity, promotional material, "junk mail", "spam", "chain mails", "pyramid schemes" or any other publishing method.
  8. Violating, intentionally or not, any local, state, national or international law or regulation.
  9. Uploading, spreading or transmitting any Content violating any patent, registered trademark, copyright or any other right of ownership of any person or entity.
In this sense, the user acknowledges that by sending (publishing or transmitting) Content to any tool or space in Regnum’s community, they automatically grants NGE a free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive and completely sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derived works, distribute, execute, publish and show that Content (totally or partially) world-wide and/or incorporate it in other works or products in any known or latterly developed format, media, platform or technology.

Additionally, the user guarantees that they will not carry out any demand of any type about content, be it moral, economic, commercial or legal. NGE and its partners will have the right, but not the obligation, at will, to edit, refuse to publish or remove any Content published in any space or tool of Regnum’s community. Also, NGE and its partners will have the right to remove any content violating the mentioned rules and/or being offensive or questionable. In this sense, the user agrees to compensate any demand, including expenses for defense made for a third party arose from the violation of these terms and conditions, or from the violation of any third party’s rights.

It’s also important to know how do we reach to the decisions that are adopted when one or more of these rules are broken:

When any user is found to be in breach of any of the rules and regulations mentioned in the Terms of Use and, by inheritance, also in our Rules of Conduct, an investigation or direct action may be held, that usually ends with a measure being applied to the related user account or any of its contents. It’s very important to know that we always:
  1. Decide all measures to be taken as a team, never individually. There’s always consultation between all the relevant parties.
  2. Log all measures for other members of the team, and also people responsible for Regnum’s team, to see them and audit how these rules and regulations are applied.
  3. Do our best in order not to apply a measure. We issue warnings whenever it’s possible.
  4. Take into consideration only what happens within the game and its proprietary communication tools. Any other kind of information coming from a third-party platform is always discarded, as we can’t verify its origin and validity.
Any of the measures to be applied can result in a reaction from the user involved, and that can lead to unnecessary discussions that tend to be biased as we don’t participate in them or allow them in any of our social channels because:
  1. These are private between the user and the company. These two parties are the only ones that know what happened and have enough information to discuss them.
  2. Making abuse details public and how investigations take place can lead to speculation and further abuse by others, when they can predict how we will act.
  3. There have already been parties with all the information available to make the decision based strictly on our rules and regulations..
For the reasons stated above, discussing and speculating in public about any applied measure has to be completely avoided. To fully understand what any of the possible measures can mean or which consequences they may entail, here is a full list of them:

Abuse of Communication Tools

Description

A communication tool is any channel, social media page, or application in which anyone can make comments. When a player -maybe willing or unwillingly- makes comments that go against the purpose of those channels, or when the ability to send those comments is used more frequently than the usual rate, an action to protect them has to be applied.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary mute in that channel or page (from 5 minutes to 1 month).
  2. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 hour to 3 months).
  3. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Try to always read the rules for every channel, if available. When you don’t find them, read what the other users have commented on in the past if you’re not sure how to use that channel. Avoid posting the same messages many times, as they can lead to other users ignoring you on purpose when you just wanted to get their attention.

It’s very important to know that we open every channel of communication with a purpose, mostly for all of you to communicate but also to gather feedback that is vital to make the game and your experience better.

We love to read everything you have to say about the game, the community, and even yourselves! So we count on all of you sharing in a way that is clear and easy to follow.


Access Discrepancy

Description

When an account is detected to be accessed from several different locations, such as more than one country or computer, it makes it impossible to determine if the account is in the hands of the original registrant user.

Even after a successful ID check, we may not be able to verify that the account will stay in the possession of who registered it originally.


Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Contact Support if you move to another country. And, as always, do not share your account with anyone! A postcard is not required but appreciated.


Account Selling

Description

When a player offers their account to others in exchange for anything. Regnum accounts are solely for the usage of the registrant and NGE doesn’t allow any other person to use that account.

Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account and related accounts accessed from the location of the abuser.
Avoidance

Your account is only for your personal use, as stated in our Terms of Use. If you feel like you don’t want to play anymore, just take as much time as you need away from the game (we will miss you, though).

Remember that Regnum accounts are stored in NGE’s servers and are under a Terms of Use agreement, so any kind of intention of profit is illegal.


Account Sharing

Description

When an account has several accesses from different locations that relate to other individuals. Regnum accounts are for the sole usage of the people that register them.

Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account and related accounts accessed from the location of the abuser.
Avoidance

Never give your password to anyone. The account you use is given to you by NGE for your personal use. If anyone asks you for it, deny the request and remind that user that it will put both of your accounts in jeopardy. Your account is unique, just like you!


Account Theft

Description

When a player gains access to an account that is not theirs and proceeds to change the password or any other information of the account, for its original owner not to access it again.

Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account and related accounts accessed from the location of the abuser.
Avoidance

Never give your password or any personal information to anyone. They will never need them for anything else than abuse. No member of NGE will ever need this information from you unless it is stated in our Customer Support system by one of our representatives.

Remember: your personal information is extremely valuable for abusers. Protect it as much as you can. The “we will never ask you for your password” messages you see everywhere are there for a reason.


Account Under Investigation

Description

When a possible abuse is detected and it requires more information to be obtained about what could’ve happened and it’s vital that the account has no further changes to its state, such as personal information being changed, inventory changes in characters, or any other action that could compromise a successful outcome of said investigation. If your account is deactivated because of this, please contact Support immediately!

Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account (can be lifted if the investigation is inconclusive or in favor of the alleged abuser).
Avoidance

Always report anything that you feel shouldn’t be happening or that the game shouldn’t allow a player to do. Any kind of error that gives an advantage to yourself or allows any player to affect the others in any kind of way that wasn’t intended is to be reported through our Support system immediately to avoid future problems.

Never help other players to transfer items among themselves or others. Any transaction in the game is taken as an involvement of the player, and thus, while you thought you were doing a favor, you might have involved yourself in an illegal action. Watch your back!

Do not participate in any activity that involves using third-party software to modify the status of the game. We’ve already got everything you need.

If your account is under investigation you can also reach out to our Support Team to make sure what the exact reason was and to further avoid doing so in the future. And no, those Ximerin didn’t just fall into your pocket.


Account Under Payment Investigation

Description

When any payment or attempt of payment in an account gets a claim in the payment platform in which it has been made. These can be made by the account owner or the owner of the payment account or method.

In any case, we have to deactivate the account to perform an investigation. The user will have to contact us immediately to solve this problem.


Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account (can be lifted if the payment status is solved).
Avoidance

Never file claims unless you first contacted us about any kind of problem with a payment. There is always a possibility to try and fix a problem before it has to end in a claim in the payment provider. It is extremely important for us to make sure that you received all your money’s worth in Ximerin and that you have it available as soon as possible.

Filing a claim without giving us the chance to fix it first can lead to further delays or unavailability. And we don’t want you to go without those premium items you’ve saved up for!


Administrator Impersonation

Description

When a player uses a similar name or a variation of the name of any member of NGE or any associate that has an administrator/moderator/collaborator role. This is strictly prohibited and will result in a direct deactivation of the account.

Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Just be yourself! We love you for who you are.


Being AFK in an Instance

Description

Instances are mostly group activities with a time limit. Being away while your team-mates are making the effort to win is unfair for them and for the game as well, as it can also be the reason why the team loses or why the gameplay can be broken due to that imbalance of players.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary block from accessing instances (from 1 day to 3 months).
  2. Permanent block from accessing instances.
  3. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 day to 3 months).
  4. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

As instances have a fixed duration, take into account the time they last and also some for queueing as well. If you don’t think you’ll be able to have all that free time, you have other plans soon or even if you don’t feel so motivated to participate in them: please avoid them and wait until you feel your possible team-mates can rely on you.

Remember: Winners don’t quit. And we want you to do your best to be one!

Breach of the Terms of Use

Description

When any of the items described in the Terms of Use is broken by the player. In any case a player gets this reason it means that none of the other deactivation reasons fits what caused it. This is only applicable to breaches of high severity.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 day to 1 year).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Yes, it’s long, but pay attention to the Terms of Use. Read them, as they might help you understand how to avoid problems in the game.

Did you know that a recent study commissioned by a renowned statistician (or was it one of us during those how-bad-it-is moments?) shows that more than 90% of Regnum’s users never had any kind of account deactivation? We’re not sure if they read the Terms of Use, but we do think that it might be really easy to respect them!


Client Tampering

Description

When the server detects that some of the information sent by the client of the player has been tampered with. The server detects unusual changes and, to protect itself, it bans the account automatically. First, for an hour or a day, but if the same situation repeats it can be permanent.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 hour to 1 day).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Do not use third party programs that could interfere with Regnum’s client. Also, try to keep your computer clean of viruses and malware.

We know you’re eager to hammer the loose nails on your porch to the Alsius’ hymn, dust off that oud and finally get one of Ignis’ songs right or practice your vocalization singing with Syrtis’ Deep Green chorus, but before downloading the Regnum Soundtrack from a sketchy blog in an .exe file, just log into the game and listen to it there instead.


Collision Error Abuse

Description

When the player uses a collision (what makes objects solid) that has an error or it makes it possible to access locations that give an advantage regarding other players.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 day to 3 months).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

As soon as you find yourself in a position that is not easily accessible or that gives you an advantage because other players find it difficult to attack you there, please take a screenshot, leave that position, and report it to us. Yes, even if the scenery looks THAT pretty from up there.


Collusion

Description

Any kind of activity agreed with an enemy player that can benefit them by not acting how you should, given your role and faction allegiance. For example, letting yourself get killed without giving a fight.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary block from accessing instances (from 1 week to 6 months).
  2. Permanent block from accessing instances.
  3. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 week to 6 months).
  4. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Don’t forget the RPG part of MMORPGs. Even if you can move freely in an open world, not all that you can do is right, or even allowed. You are part of a realm, and you play a role.

You have to do your best to defend its purpose and goals, and giving yourself away is defecting to the enemy. Traitors get fed to the gators.


Discrimination

Description

When any player talks to any other player or a group of them in a despective way by highlighting their gender, country of origin or any other personal trait. We are very strict about it. Making any kind of comments like these is unacceptable.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 2 weeks to 1 year).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

If you are playing Regnum, it is extremely likely that all the rest of the players have a lot in common with you. As human beings, we’re not that different from each other. Where someone comes from, how they look and who they love are just personal traits that don’t affect anyone in any way. In order to play Regnum, this has to be deeply understood.

Whenever you find yourself in a situation like this, remember that you are also different to the other player and that’s fine: you’re just different people that gather to play the same game because you share the same passion.

We’re not in the stone age anymore… ask yourself: where did that hatred come from? You’ll realise that it doesn’t come from you, but from someone else. Well, someone else’s fear, to be specific. How humans have been mixing since the beginning of civilization is what led us to where we are today, being able to make (and play) these awesome games. Let’s not ruin it, shall we?


Exploiting

Description

When any player finds any way to get any kind of advantage which is not intended by the design of the game. These are always easy to spot, as the difference between normal situations and exploiting situations are very clear.

No one can say they didn’t know it was wrong: years and years of gaming can vouch for that thought.


Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 week to 1 year).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

As soon as you find any kind of error that gives an advantage to you or others, please report it. Exploits ruin the game, as they break it.

At the beginning, it might feel good to have the advantage but in the end, it ruins the fun, maybe even forever: be it because you get caught, or because there’s no more reason to play again because of a loss of motivation. Become a Warmaster and not a Boremaster!


Harassment or Threatening

Description

When a user repeatedly targets a specific player with an offensive or disrupting attitude. Also when there is an intention to say or do something hurtful to other players or when any kind of personal retaliation is promised.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 2 weeks to 1 year).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

As soon as those thoughts come to your mind, log off. The best place to be when this happens is under a cold shower and afterwards watching some cute animal videos.


Item Theft

Description

When a player obtains an item from another player without giving what was asked for, in-game, in exchange for it or without them realising the item is no longer in their inventory, contrary to their desire through any kind of social engineering, deceit or tampering with the game client.

Possible measures
  1. Deletion of the involved items or currency.
  2. Deletion of all inventory (including transferred inventory to other accounts).
  3. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 2 weeks to 1 year).
  4. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Make sure to discuss the terms of the transaction with the other party in the game chat before proceeding. Being sure about what both parties will receive, will avoid any kind of misunderstanding between the parties, and thus minimize the possibility of abuse.

Double check the name of the players involved, as sometimes they can use similar names to players you know. Any merchant will agree that it’s important to pay attention to these signs when conducting any kind of transaction.


Make Report Intention Public

Description

Telling another player or a group of them that a report of any kind (ticket, email, private message, etc) will be sent to us regarding them. It is strictly forbidden to announce these kinds of actions.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 weeks to 1 year).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Think that the report itself is directly put in danger by announcing it. Do you want justice to be served? Serve it as cold as the highest peak in Alsius.


Offensive Character Name

Description

When we detect that your character has a name that can be offensive to other players. It could’ve been on purpose or not, but we have a duty to make the game enjoyable for everyone. Also, remember that kids play this game as well!

We will give you a rename scroll in this case, but just one chance. If this happens twice in your account, we may not be as friendly as the first time.


Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 day to 1 week).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Some character names might sound like a joke for someone, but it could have a completely different meaning for other people. Please, take this into account when deciding your character name.

If it targets a tragedy in history, a group of people in particular, genders, infamous people and so on, it might not be a good idea. After all it’s a fantasy world, make use of those letters on the keyboard you barely get to use and create something new.


Private Information Request

Description

When a player asks another player for any kind of personal information about them. This is an invasion of privacy and also dangerous for the security of any player. It is strictly forbidden to ask for this kind of information.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 month to 1 year).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

In order to play Regnum, you don’t need information about who is playing on the other end. It is irrelevant who they are and all of their private information. The only reason someone could ask for this information is to use it in their favour, to gain access to their accounts and many other abuses.

Please, to avoid any confusion, leave your curiosity for stuff about the gameplay, not about the players. Also, we don’t want you to find out about our super secret AI player with Realm domination plans.It’s a joke, there’s no such player :P


Secondary Account Usage

Description

When a player uses a secondary account to perform any kind of abuse stated in our Terms of Use and/or Rules of Conduct in order to avoid being detected or having a measure applied in the main account.

Any detection of them in cases of abuse will result in a permanent deactivation directly, despite any of the other possible measures of the abuse itself.


Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Do not use secondary accounts. We don’t prohibit the use actively, as it is virtually impossible to check it (at least until our Human Cloning division comes through), but our rules are against their usage.

If you feel unsafe given that you use a secondary account for an inoffensive reason, you can always contact our Customer Support and ask for a merge of accounts, given they are in the same realm.

Accounts that were created after being specifically instructed by the Customer Support team to do so in regards to the server transfers can be an exception.


Sexual Harassment

Description

When a player mentions anything to another player with a sexual intention or innuendo. Completely unacceptable, in Regnum and in any other environment. Sexuality is private and a matter of consensual relationships, not a topic of discussion in a game.

Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Five simple words: Do. Not. Be. A. Creep. Consent is important, no matter in which context or world.


Spam

Description

When a player mentions any kind of product, game or any kind of brand with an intention to promote it and lure other players into them.

Possible measures
  1. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 1 day to 1 month).
  2. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Imagine centuries of Igneans fighting against exile so you could promote your Tiny Black Beetle handmade jewelry line at the gates of Altaruk. There is a time and place for everything and this is not it, chief.


User Impersonation

Description

When a player uses a similar name or a variation of the name of any other player to gain the trust, scare or diminish the reputation of others. This is strictly prohibited and will result in a direct deactivation of the account.

Possible measures
  1. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

This is a role-playing game, but you have to stick to your own! You made the character, be proud of it!


Verbal Abuse

Description

When a player uses any kind of offensive, derogatory or insulting language towards another player or a group of them directly or indirectly.

Possible measures
  1. Mute in all public channels (from 5 minutes to 1 year).
  2. Temporary deactivation of the account (from 4 hours to 1 year).
  3. Permanent deactivation of the account.
Avoidance

Never engage in discussions with players that show any animosity towards you, people that you care about, or any subject of your interest. Instead, avoid them with the ignore command or, if you think they committed abuse, report them to our Customer Support team.

Giving in to the provocation of other users can lead to all parties involved getting measures on their accounts, even if they were just defending themselves, as it is our job to defend players to avoid further escalation.

Fact is that they are doing it mostly for attention, so you denying them that “joy” is a far better way to rub it in than any insults hurled back could ever be.

“I’m rubber, you’re glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.” Don’t fall into petty conversations, the game is here so everyone can enjoy it!
